Bachelor of Laws/Bachelor of Global Studies

TThis unique degree is designed to develop an awareness of the broader context in which global issues arise including the political, historical, philosophical and economic dimensions.

This degree also offers an international education, and students study abroad and/or do an internship that provides international work experience in their third year. Students gain practical experience through our mooting program will also complete 80 hours of pro bono work providing firsthand experience of the legal system while allowing students to contribute to the common good.

Areas of study

Law (including commercial, constitutional, public, international and comparative, land and property, equity and trusts, contract, dispute resolution and human rights law), global studies, internatonal relations, global history, global society and change, sustainability, global study abroad.

Career opportunities

Public sector, both local and international; government service, including diplomatic service, the United Nations and other international organisations; social entrepreneurship and companies with a global outreach; international relations; journalism including travel journalism, tourism.

Professional recognition

This degree has been approved by accreditation authorities as a prerequisite for admission to legal practice in New South Wales, Queensland and Victoria, and is recognised for the purposes of admission in other Australian states and territories.

Practical experience

From second year, one Community Legal Engagement unit in which students undertake 80 hours in a pro bono work experience setting. Students will undertake international study, an exchange or an internship in third year.
