The Bachelor of Science (Extended) is a four-year degree for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students to undertake their studies in an academically and culturally supported environment. The degree will equip you with communication, critical and analytical skills as well as provide you with an opportunity to make connections between in- depth study of a discipline area in humanities and social sciences, and knowledge of culture and practice.
You will specialise in a Science major, studying one or two subject areas per semester across the degree. All students complete some units in mathematics. You will also complete a minor or a second major from those offered in Science or the shared pool of majors from across the university. You will also take short courses from the Open Learning Environment in areas such as design thinking, persuasive communication, project management, team leadership and entrepreneurial thinking.
Throughout the degree you will have access to tailored academic support and tutors, mentors through our Mentoring our Brothers and Sisters (MOBS) program. You will also have access to opportunities including internships, study abroad and projects and placements in Community and industry.

You will complete foundation units in academic studies and numeracy and an Indigenous Cultural Capstone Project. You will complete a major from 513910 Bachelor of Science Table A and a second major, or a minor and elective units, from Table A or Table S, and the Open Learning Environment. The Health stream from 513915 Bachelor of Science (Health) is also available.
Astronomer, biosecurity researcher, ecologist, environmental policymaker, food chemistry analyst, hydrologist, mathematician, medical scientist, nano scientist, nutritionist (after further study), psychologist (after further study), plant geneticist, soil scientist.
The Psychological Science major is not a pathway to professional accreditation as a psychologist.
You will have the opportunity to gain industry experience through interdisciplinary project units with industry, community or research projects.
Students enrolled in any course requiring exposure to animals and wildlife, farm visits, animal handling enterprises, or the handling of animal specimens must be protected against Q Fever infection and Tetanus. The Australian Government provides funds for student travel and accommodation for first year where eligibility requirements are met. The Australian Government subsidises the tuition fee for this course. The remaining balance is paid by the student. Current University of Sydney fee information.

Open Learning Environment (OLE)
Open Learning Environment (OLE) units are short, on-demand and workshop- supported. They enable you to broaden your skills in areas such as entrepreneurial thinking, persuasive communication, project management and ethical reasoning. OLEs are available to all students at the University, while students commencing in liberal studies degrees (Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Commerce or combined Bachelor of Advanced Studies) and some specialist degrees (Bachelor of Economics) must complete 6 credit points of OLE units.
