The combined Bachelor of Economics and Bachelor of Laws attracts a diverse cohort of students with a wide range of interests and career aspirations. The combined Bachelor of Economics and Bachelor of Laws will provide you with training in the theoretical and applied aspects of economics. Studying the behaviour of individuals, businesses, governments, and nations as they interact in the global environment, you will develop analytical skills that allow you to understand the world on a deeper level. Economics is fundamentally about developing problem-solving and decision-making skills that are applicable in numerous contexts. While economics is the study of financial and business decisions, it also enables you to understand complex challenges in areas such as the environment, health, education, poverty, economic development, and public policy. By studying economics, you will learn how to use data to understand the modern world, a skill that is highly prized by both business and government.
The Bachelor of Economics and Bachelor of Laws allows you to combine the study of economics with a professional legal qualification that satisfies the academic requirements for admission as a legal practitioner in NSW.

Law: Administrative law, civil and criminal procedure, constitutional law, contracts, corporations law, criminal law, equity, evidence, foundations of law, international law, legal research, property and commercial law, public law, real property and torts. Professional recognition
The Bachelor of Laws satisfies the academic requirements for admission as a legal practitioner in NSW. An accredited program of practical legal training is required after the completion of your degree. Practical experience
Clinical legal education options are available in your final year of Law. These may be through partnership with legal centres, law firms and other organisations involved in public interest law and the provision of legal services to disadvantaged or vulnerable members of the community. Internship opportunities with domestic and international law firms may also be available.

Prerequisites
For 2024: Mathematics Advanced (Band 4) or Mathematics Extension 1 (Band E3) or Mathematics Extension 2 (Band E3). From 2025: None.
Admission criteria
Applicants with recent secondary education
Assumed knowledge: For Bachelor of Economics: Mathematics Advanced. For Bachelor of Laws: English Advanced.
Guaranteed selection rank: The required ATAR for all combined Law courses is 99.50. This ATAR will guarantee entry if you have completed an Australian Year 12 qualification and have not undertaken any tertiary studies. A guide to guaranteed selection ranks.

Advanced standing
If you have completed at least one year full-time or equivalent of a recognised tertiary qualification, you will be considered on the better of your ATAR or tertiary qualification. A tertiary grade point average in the high distinction range is necessary to gain entry, although this will vary according to the strength of the field of applicants.
Credit for law and other units from previous tertiary studies may be granted by application at enrolment. Applications for credit for law units of study are determined at enrolment. A maximum of 48 credit points or one year's worth of credit may be awarded.
