Applicants who have a completed Diploma of Nursing (HLT54115 or HLT54121) within the last five years (from 2020 onwards), including a Provide First Aid Certificate (HLTAID003 or HLTAID011), and hold current registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as an Enrolled Nurse are welcome to apply for this accelerated program and gain admission to the second year of the Bachelor of Nursing. Applicants who meet these criteria are eligible for 80 units of credit (eight courses) and can successfully complete the degree in two calendar years.

Hospital-trained Enrolled Nurses are not eligible for admission to the accelerated program. Applicants with any other related qualification should apply for the standard Bachelor of Nursing and apply for credit approval.

Applicants should note that each campus location has a unique UAC code for where students will undertake their on-campus studies. Those wishing to undertake the degree need to include the UAC code on their UAC application that matches the location for where they wish to study. Offers are made to a particular campus and are non-transferrable.

Once you are admitted, you must hold a current:

  • Provide First Aid Certificate HLTAID011
  • Mental Health First Aid Certificate.

Note: The Bachelor of Nursing works on an extended academic year, with Professional Experience Placement generally commencing in mid-January and concluding early/mid-December.

Registered nurse in positions such as clinical nurse specialist; clinical nurse consultant; nurse educator; nurse manager; nurse practitioner, nurse researcher.

Professional recognition

Nursing graduates are eligible to apply for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, under the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.

Practical experience

This degree requires students to participate in Professional Experience Placements in NSW Health facilities. During placement, you will be subject to NSW Health policies and procedures. You must also meet all NSW Health verification requirements before attending clinical placement. Clinical placement requirements. You will complete 800 hours of compulsory Professional Experience Placement. Delivered in placement blocks (two weeks to six weeks), this includes morning and evening shifts, weekends, and public holidays. Night duty is introduced in your final year.

Bachelor of Nursing (Diploma Enrolled Nurse Pathway) (Hunter) 483605: If you choose this option, you will be undertaking your on-campus studies at the Callaghan campus in Newcastle.

Bachelor of Nursing (Diploma Enrolled Nurse Pathway) (Central Coast) 483610: If you choose this option, you will be undertaking your on-campus studies at the Central Coast Clinical School in Gosford.

Hands-on clinical experience is also gained in the simulated learning environment on campus.

Available as an additional year (or part-time equivalent) to students based on merit.

Essential requirements for admission

Graduate or prior study status: Applicants must have the following:

  1. Provide evidence of current registration as an Enrolled Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  2. A completed Diploma of Nursing qualification (HLT54115 or HLT54121) Must have completed the award within five years prior to enrolment (from 2020 onwards) in the Bachelor of Nursing.
  3. A completed Provide First Aid Certificate – HLTAID003 or HLTAID011
    Provide First Aid will have been completed within the Diploma, or independently and separate from the Diploma qualification.

Other applicants

All other applicants are ineligible to apply for this accelerated Nursing course.
