The world just can’t get enough of the magic of the moving image, and the global uptake of digital technology is creating unprecedented demand for professional content creators.

From producers to directors, cinematographers, scriptwriters, motion graphics designers, editors and more, entertainment production is big business. Film and TV at JMC Academy is a hands-on production-based course that will give you the knowledge and the creative, technical and managerial skills to create and produce leading content for film, TV, live broadcasts, documentaries, commercials and music videos.

Develop your creative expression and technical skills whilst mastering screenwriting, directing, cinematography, motion graphics and post-production, to launch your creative career.

We take film and TV seriously at JMC, with studios full of the best tech in the trade. You’ll have access to highly sophisticated equipment and recording studios, including RED EPIC-W™ HELIUM™ 8K, Arri Amira series and Blackmagic Design Ursa Broadcast G2 cameras, green-screen studios, editing suites, colour grading equipment including powerful iMac Pros and Blackmagic Design DaVinci Resolve, a cinema/theatre fitted with 5.1 surround sound and full student loan facilities with lenses, cameras, lights and sound equipment available.

With world class campuses in Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane, a dedicated team of academics and industry professional lecturers, and the opportunity to participate in international masterclasses and study abroad programs, JMC Academy is committed to ensuring our graduates make their own indelible mark on industry.

All JMC, bachelor degree graduates are eligible to apply for entry into JMC Academy's Master of Creative Industries, or relevant post- grad qualifications at any Australian university.

Essential requirements for admission

Interview: All applicants must attend an interview. Once we've received your application, we'll give you a call and organise for you to come in for a consultation with one of our student recruitment advisers. During this appointment they'll be able to confirm your application details, assess the best course and study options for you.

Admission criteria

Applicants with recent secondary education

Satisfactory completion of Year 12 or equivalent. No ATAR required. Minimum age 17.

Advanced standing

You may be entitled to credit for prior learning, whether formal or informal. Formal learning can include previous study in higher education, vocational education, or adult and community education. Informal learning can include on the job learning or various kinds of work and life experience. Credit can reduce the amount of study needed to complete a degree.
