About

In this new double degree, you'll develop your passion for visual art while gaining practical business skills. You will be able to apply your creativity in a wide range of commercial areas, understand visual arts practice in terms of a contemporary art market and be prepared to work independently as an artist, in arts and cultural organisations.

The Queensland College of Art and Design (QCAD) attracts students that are dedicated to becoming innovative and creative practitioners. In the Bachelor of Visual Arts, one of the flagship degrees of the QCAD, you'll focus on theory and practice to gain experience in contemporary approaches to visual arts, and develop studio skills and research methods. In the Bachelor of Business, you will gain a solid understanding of core business skills and learn how they can be applied in a range of industries.

For Visual Arts: Painting, photography, sculpture.

For Business: Asian business, behavioural science, business analytics, economics, employment relations, events, finance, financial crime investigation and compliance, human resource management, innovation and entrepreneurship, international business, logistics and supply chain management, management, marketing, political science and international relations, real estate and property development, sport management, sustainable business, taxation, tourism and travel.

Applicants with recent secondary education

Assumed knowledge: Any two units of English (Band 3).

Optional portfolio and interview: There are two admission pathways to the Bachelor of Visual Arts/Bachelor of Business. Applicants may be considered via one of the following:
Guaranteed ATAR/Rank of 70.00 or above, or via Portfolio and interview.

Admission via portfolio requires applicants to submit a portfolio and attend an interview. Portfolios are submitted directly to Griffith University via an online submission portal from 1 April - 30 April 2025 closing date for Trimester 2, 2025. Portfolio applicants will be invited to attend an interview at Queensland College of Art and Design, Brisbane City (South Bank) or the Gold Coast campus or via Teams on Wednesday 21 May 2025.

Applicants should also refer to this Portfolio website for the most up to date advice and messaging. Applicants are encouraged to submit a portfolio and attend an interview even if confident they will meet the ATAR/Rank Guarantee. Applicants must pay the $55 non-refundable portfolio submission fee to Griffith University.

To be considered for portfolio admission for Trimester 2, 2025, applicants must apply to UAC, pay the portfolio fee and submit their portfolio to Griffith University by 30 April 2025. Applicants will still be able to apply after this date and be considered for ATAR/Rank admission.
