The Master of Autism and Neurodivergent Studies is an online course designed to enable autistic and neurodivergent individuals, professionals and parents to take a leadership role in creating supportive environments and implementing effective programs.
Throughout this degree you will learn to develop practices that support autistic and neurodivergent individuals to realise their goals in school, employment, home and community settings. This degree leads to professional registration with Developmental Educators Australia.
You will learn the key principles of diagnosis and assessment and how the history of autism and other neurodivergent conditions, such as ADHD, dyslexia and intellectual differences, has led to current beliefs and models of practice.
In practice, you will learn to conduct environmental assessments and implement strategies to create neurodiversity affirming environments and practices supporting individuals across their lifespan. You will be equipped with the skills to utilise strategic assessment and research processes to create systemic change.
Discover how to critically examine the latest research and knowledge in relevant areas such as the aetiology and characteristics of neurodivergent conditions, self-determination, leadership, transitions, and neurodiversity affirming practice and learning. And develop the skills necessary to utilise research to evaluate and examine the effectiveness of current practices.
An Australian bachelor degree, or recognised equivalent, in any area, with an equivalent average mark of at least 65.
This course will be offered as a Commonwealth supported place (CSP). This means the Australian government will subsidise your tuition fees by up to 75%. To be eligible for this fee subsidy, you must meet the following criteria: Be a domestic student, i.e. an Australian or New Zealand citizen, a permanent resident of Australia or a permanent Australian Humanitarian visa holder.
