About
Conservation biology is concerned with our planet’s biodiversity. It has two fundamental objectives: to evaluate human impacts on biological diversity and to develop practical approaches to prevent the extinction of species. Conservation biologists strive to maintain three key aspects of life on Earth: biological diversity, ecological integrity and ecological health.
The Graduate Certificate of Conservation Biology focuses on the theory, practice and ethics of biodiversity conservation and wildlife biology, from the level of wild populations to entire ecosystems. An emphasis is placed on the unique biodiversity of Australia and its connections with the rest of the globe. This course will suit current practitioners wishing to upgrade their knowledge and skills, as well as those seeking employment in this sector.
Admission criteria
One of the following:
- Australian level 7 bachelor qualification or recognised equivalent including two units in Biology; or
- Australian level 7 bachelor qualification or recognised equivalent and approved work experience, professional certification or other recognised prior learning
