About

In this double degree, you will be able to combine:

Master of Criminology: This course will develop your skills in advanced criminology theory, applied criminological research and criminal justice policy analysis. As a graduate you'll use your knowledge drawn from fields including sociology, psychology, psychiatry and social anthropology to better understand, measure and evaluate crime.

Master of Laws: This degree will simultaneously extend your legal research, and your practical legal skills and knowledge to an advanced level. You’ll gain the skills to think critically and respond flexibly by applying your research and practical skills to the wide range of potential issues you may confront in your career. In this course, you'll extend your knowledge of the legal, governance and policy issues relevant to international and domestic trade and commerce so that you develop a broad and well-rounded understanding of the area, as well as skills to advance your career.

Admission criteria

One of the following:

  • AQF level 8 bachelor honours or graduate diploma qualification in a related field or recognised equivalent; or

meet two of these three criteria:

  • AQF level 7 bachelor qualification in a related field or recognised equivalent
  • minimum two years relevant approved work experience at senior management level, professional certification or other recognised prior learning
  • AQF level 7 bachelor qualification or recognised equivalent with a Weighted Average Mark of 65, and

Relevant experience

In laws: Professional experience includes experience in a legal position (working in a law firm or in government drafting policies, law clerk, judge, judge's associate, drafting policies or supporting legal work).

In criminology: Police Force, Customs/Border Force and law (seniority: Police – Senior Sergeant (equiv) or above), Public Service APS 5 (equiv) or above.
