About

SAE’s Graduate Diploma of Creative Industries is the next step in achieving your creative and professional aspirations. Completing two of the four trimesters of the Master of Creative Industries, the graduate diploma provides a strong pathway to the master program.

The Graduate Diploma of Creative Industries offers a progressive, learning experience like no other. With the benefit of no defined discipline specialisations, we'll guide you to select modules that meet both your individual creative and professional aspirations.

Choose to deepen your knowledge and skills within your existing discipline or compliment this experience with cross-discipline electives. Your tailored course will consist of core modules significant to all creative practitioners as well as electives focusing on creative practice, innovation, entrepreneurship and marketing.

As an SAE student you will have access to SAE's industry-leading campuses and can hire SAE’s equipment free of charge.

Admission criteria

Either:

  • an Australian bachelor degree or higher in media production (obtained within the last 10 years), or
  • experience based entry (see below).

Additional selection criteria

  • Evidence of qualification.
  • CV detailing skills and expertise in media production (with links to online portfolio/showreel).

Applicants must email their supporting documentation direct to SAE.

Experience based entry

SAE recognises that learning may be acquired from both formal study and professional experience. Applicants without a bachelor degree can apply for experience based entry to the graduate certificate and, on completion, apply to transfer to the graduate diploma or master. Applicants will need to demonstrate at least 5 years of documented relevant work experience related to media production with evidence of artistic ability and achievement or practice comparable to that of undergraduate degree holders in relevant disciplines, combined with the successful completion of year 12 or higher.

For experience-based entry application requirements, see section 6.4 of SAE's Student Selection, Admission and Transfer Policy.
