About

This unique postgraduate course offers a flexible and interdisciplinary online learning experience whilst fostering collaboration with like-minded creative peers across the SAE network. You’ll also get unlimited access to SAE’s state-of-the-art facilities and equipment across Australia and the world.

Centred on a main capstone project, this postgraduate program enables you to hone your creative skills with guidance from industry experts as your mentors. Your project could be anything from developing a piece of music, a video series, an online game or even an immersive VR experience. Our experienced lecturers will help you explore and workshop your project idea, or we can potentially accommodate an existing project you may already have.

The Master of Creative Industries will also help you expand your professional network with the opportunity to attend a range of extra-curricular seminars and bespoke workshops. You’ll graduate with a qualification that will ensure you stand out to potential employers as well as have the confidence and know-how to start your own creative venture.

Admission criteria

Either:

  • an Australian bachelor degree or higher in media production (obtained within the last 10 years), or
  • experience based entry (see below).

Additional selection criteria

  • Evidence of qualification.
  • CV detailing skills and expertise in media production (with links to online portfolio/showreel).

Applicants must email their supporting documentation direct to SAE.

Experience based entry

SAE recognises that learning may be acquired from both formal study and professional experience. Applicants without a bachelor degree can apply for experience based entry to the graduate certificate and, on completion, apply to transfer to the graduate diploma or master. Applicants will need to demonstrate at least 5 years of documented relevant work experience related to media production with evidence of artistic ability and achievement or practice comparable to that of undergraduate degree holders in relevant disciplines, combined with the successful completion of year 12 or higher.

For experience-based entry application requirements, see section 6.4 of SAE's Student Selection, Admission and Transfer Policy.
