  1. Did you enjoy being a part of the program?
Yes. There were many subjects that I assumed upon enrolment would be boring and onerous, such as Events, Economics and Marketing. However, reflecting on these units I found them to be really engaging and enjoyable. Many of the assessments focused on real world scenarios and enabled me to creatively build solutions, create businesses, form initiatives and high-end proposals. I also found the work experience unit was such an essential part of preparing me for work post retirement from professional sport.
  2. What made you choose ACPE and why should other student athletes do the same?
As a professional athlete, sport has always been a passion of mine and the business/administrative aspect had long appealed to me. The Bachelor of Sports Business (Leadership) at ACPE was the perfect fit for where I was in 2015 when I first began. ACPE consistently demonstrated that they understood how to manage elite athletes and best set them up for successful completion of their course.
  3. What skills did your degree provide you with?
It provided me with an ability to process information quickly, provide me the confidence to develop and present proposals comfortably and armed me with industry knowledge that has given me a leg up in sports administration. I found the targeted work experience was a vital element in my education that provided me with a better understanding of the industry and gave me much needed confidence in preparation for my employment.
  4. What sets ACPE apart from other universities/ educational institutions?
What sets it apart in my view, is the personalised assistance and the flexibility they afforded me with my training and playing schedule. The lecturers always had time to discuss assessments with me one on one and help me better understand unit topics. I could always contact Elite Athlete Student Support if I was stuck due to my sporting commitments. I know that if I had attended a bigger university, I would not experience the same level if flexibility and enable me to juggle my sporting career and my education. I would not have completed my degree.

1. Why did you choose ACPE? And why should other student athletes choose to do the same?

I chose ACPE as a few of my teammates studied here and only spoke of how well the program was and how it caters for athletes.

2. What support is offered to you as part of the program?

The program offers academic and social support. Helping me to be able to balance work, studies and my busy training schedule without feeling overly stressed. An awesome program to be a part of especially if you have a lot of sporting commitments but want to be able to put yourself in a better position once your sporting career ends.

3. What skills does ACPE provide you with that help you succeed after sport?

To be able to transition smoothly into life after my sporting career with a degree and into a job that I will love. ACPE also assisted with building connections in the workforce, offering various opportunities to intern/network with sporting clubs and areas of work within my interests.

4.What sets ACPE apart from other universities/ educational institutions which offer an Elite Athlete, Performer and Coach program?

Elite Athlete Student Support check-in often and are always up to date with elite athletes’ students upcoming seasons/games/events. This is to ensure they understand the pressure we may be encountering and to provide flexibility to mitigate any stress in relation to studies.

ACPE provides a very personalised style of study, the tutors & lecturers are so easy going and because it is a specialised college, they can provide a personable solution something unlikely at the larger universities.
