What we do

The Universities Admissions Centre (UAC) builds admission systems providing services for universities across NSW and ACT. Our core admission system includes a wide range of traditional to modern web applications.

We have exciting national-scale projects underway that solve complex problems for the sector, leveraging various technology solutions such as integration APIs, Elasticsearch, verifiable credentials and blockchain/DLT.

We're building brand-new systems for universities using modern workflows and rules engines, with a touch of smart recommendation using AI and machine learning.

UAC has experienced significant double-digit growth and expansion of market share and capability. We’re looking for multiple developers at mid and senior levels to contribute to UAC’s success.

About our team

We have a flat team structure; in product development, everyone’s opinion counts.

We're constantly learning, adapting and growing. We seek improvement, not approval, and always act upon the feedback loop.

We're dedicated to agile methodology, we’re dynamic, and we move fast and break things. We believe prototypes are useless however essential.

We focus on the tasks, not technologies

Here’s how we roll on a daily basis:

  • We develop back-end applications using mainly Spring, Hibernate, Grails.
  • We build simple, modern, UX focused front-end application using React and Ant Design, or Angular and Material.
  • We store data with Ingres, MySQL and Elasticsearch.
  • We are experimenting and getting excited about AWS.

Given the current COVID-19 circumstances, our staff work both from home and in the office. We have the technology platforms and ethos to ensure we all stay connected.

About you

We’d love you to have:

  • experience in back-end development using Java or related language, or experience in front-end development with React/Angular. If you can do both it’s even better.
  • a keen interest in experimenting with new technologies
  • an understanding of how to build simple, testable, easy-to-maintain code
  • an ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional team members.
