  • Where can I find information on the ATAR?

  • What if I have lost my ATAR Advice Notice?

    If you have lost your ATAR Advice Notice UAC can issue you with a ATAR confirmation letter. The fee is $47 (the original ATAR Advice Notice is free). To order an ATAR confirmation letter, call UAC on (02) 9752 0200.

  • I am applying on the basis of my Year 12 studies. Do the institutions take anything else into account?

    Admission to most tertiary courses in 2010 is based on your performance in the 2009 HSC – you will be ranked on the basis of your Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR). Institutions may also take other criteria into account such as a portfolio, interview, audition, questionnaire or a test for certain courses either instead of, or together with, the ATAR.

    2009 interstate Year 12/NZ NCEA Level 3 students

    All Australian states and territories use a common scale, or index, which allows the comparison of overall measures of achievement in Year 12 across time and states. Different names are used in different states and territories. Refer to the Year 12 conversion table for more information.

  • What do the institutions take into account if I have taken studies since finishing my Year 12?

    Most institutions take into account any or all of the following when considering your application - tertiary studies, secondary studies, postsecondary studies, professional and paraprofessional studies, STAT, and other relevant factors such as maturity, employment history and special circumstances.

    Refer to the institution entries for more information on the qualifications they will consider with each of your course preferences.

  • Will the universities accept my overseas qualifications?

    If you are an Australian citizen, a permanent resident of Australia, the holder of an Australian permanent resident humanitarian visa or a New Zealand citizen applying on the basis of overseas secondary or tertiary qualifications, contact the relevant institutions to discuss your eligibility for admission before you submit your application to UAC.

    If you have qualifications from countries where English is not the standard language of instruction, you must provide evidence of English language proficiency. For requirements, read the English language proficiency FAQs.

  • Will all institutions consider my work experience/employment?

    Some institutions will take employment experience into account for admissions purposes .You'll need to submit a Statement of service with your application. Download a sample Statement of service.

  • I've completed the International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB). How will my IB Diploma results compare with the ATAR?
