Apply troubleshooting
To use Apply you'll need Internet Explorer 7.0 or above, Firefox 2.0 or above or another up-to-date browser. Mobile devices such as phones and tablets aren't supported. UAC recommends you apply using a desktop computer.
- Is Apply secure?
Yes. Apply uses Transport Layer Security (TLS) to provide a secure environment. This establishes a session between the UAC web server and your browser and encrypts all data transferred between your browser and UAC's web server.
Before you connect to the application your browser may display details of UAC's server certificate, which you must accept to proceed.
- Why do I receive an error message indicating a 'JavaScript error' while using Apply?
- Why do I receive an error message indicating a '500 Internal Server Error' with several lines of computer code appearing when I click a 'Next' button?
This error can be caused by one of two things:
- Your session expired and the server was not able to identify you. The maximum time permitted between keystrokes is 30 minutes. This is a security feature designed to protect you if you leave your application unfinished in a shared computer. Log in again, and complete your changes.
- There may be a programming or system error. Copy the error message into the enquiry section of the enquiry form and record what part of the application you were completing when the error occurred. UAC will investigate what may have caused the error and get back to you with a solution.
- Someone else's information is displayed during my session. Why is this happening?
Auto Complete may be enabled on your browser. Auto Complete is a feature of Internet Explorer which is automatically turned on by default. You can choose whether to use Auto Complete for web addresses, forms and passwords, or not use it at all.
You can clear Auto Complete by doing the following:
- On the Tools menu in Internet Explorer, click Internet options
- Click the Content tab
- Under Auto Complete click Settings
- Un-check Use Auto Complete for Forms and Usernames and Passwords on forms.
- What if my connection to the internet is slow?
Apply should load quickly, but will be slower if:
- you're applying close to or on a closing date
- you're applying during the peak usage period (4pm to 10pm, Sydney local time)
- your internet connection speed is below 56kbps (dial-up).
