Applying through UAC FAQs
Don’t waste your application! If you apply after the Main Round of offers, remember that few offers are made in the Early February and Final rounds. Institutions may not make offers in all courses – offers are only made to courses with vacancies.
- Do I apply through UAC Undergraduate or UAC International?
The application process varies for Undergraduate and International applicants:

To be offered a place in a course you must:
- be eligible to be considered and
- be selected in competition with other eligible applicants.

To be included in particular offer rounds, you must apply by certain dates. Special conditions apply for applications submitted after this date, plus some institutions may not be able to consider applications submitted after certain dates. Also, some courses have early closing dates, particularly those with additional selection criteria. Refer to the list of courses with early closing dates.

- When do applications close?

UAC accepts late applications until Thursday 4 February 2010
– late fees apply.
If you don’t pay the late fee, your application can’t be processed and you
won’t be made an offer.
Apply as early as possible as most offers are made in the Main Round of
offers on Wednesday 20 January 2010.
- How do I apply?
You apply to courses listed in the course search through Apply-By-Web. Apply-By-Web will instruct you throughout the application.
- What are the processing charges and payment options?
The processing charge is $24 for Year 12 applicants and $52 for non-Year 12 applicants. Late fees apply after 30 September.
The processing charge is not refundable under any circumstances and you must keep a record of the date and time of your payment.
Note: If you do not pay the processing charge your application will not be processed and you will not be made an offer.
When you use Apply-By-Web you will instructed on how to pay using:
- a credit card (MasterCard or Visa only)
- BPay
- Australia Post
- PayPal - allows you to transfer money securely from your nominated bank account to UAC.
If you choose to use PayPal, and you do not have a PayPal account, you will need to set up your account at least 10 days before you submit your application.

- What is my UAC application number and UAC PIN?
- How many applications can I submit?
- Do I need to submit any documents with my application?
You may need to give UAC extra information after you finish your application. Apply-By-Web will tell you which, if any, documents you need to provide.
When you finish your application, you can print a Document cover sheet - this lists all documents you must send to UAC.
Documents must be correctly verified - this means that the original document must be sighted and a copy signed by someone who can verify documents.

Note: copies verified by a Justice of the Peace without a registration number will not be accepted.
- How do I add study I did not include in my application?
- I am currently studying but did not include this in my application - what should I do?
- Do I have to demonstrate English Language proficiency?
If you have studied in an overseas country, you may have to provide proof of proficiency in English.
Read the English Language proficiency FAQs for more information.
If you have to provide proof of English language proficiency and fail to do so, you will not be considered at all for the course/s to which you have applied.
- How can I change my courses?
- How can I transfer to another course and/or institution in 2010?
If you have partially completed a tertiary course and wish to transfer to another course at a different institution, you must apply through UAC. If you want to transfer to another course at the same institution, check with your institution to see if you need to apply though UAC. In either case you may be eligible for advanced standing - check with the institution/s offering the course/s for which you have applied.
- Where can I get a copy of the UAC 2010 Guide?
Free copies of the UAC 2010 Guide are distributed throughout all NSW & ACT High Schools for students. You can buy a copy of the UAC 2009 Guide for $19.95 from UAC's office. You can also download a publications order form, fill in your details and send with payment to UAC.

- Cancelling your application
To cancel your application write to UAC, including your UAC application
number and your signature.
Note: UAC will NOT refund charges or fees paid to UAC under any circumstances.
