Recommended studies: Any two units of music or equivalent recognised music theory and practical skills.

Additional selection criteria: Students will be selected by one of three methods: (i) audition; or (ii) demonstrated level of attainment in 6th grade AMEB musical performance (instrument or voice) or equivalent, and 4th grade AMEB music theory and/or musicianship or equivalent; or (iii) successful completion of a TAFE Diploma or Advanced Diploma. Major studies: Composition, music performance, sound technologies.

Practical experience: Music performance, recording, composition, audio production, film music, stage production and collaboration.

Honours: Available as a fourth year to meritorious students.

Career opportunities: Examples include performance, teaching, artistic direction, composition, sound design, audio engineering, multimedia, arts administration, concert management and community music.
