Recommended studies: Any two units of English and study in the area of your preferred teaching specialisation – that is, Chemistry and Mathematics, plus Food Technology or Visual Arts, or Textiles and Design, or Design and Technology, or Industrial Technology, or Engineering Science.
Major studies: Secondary teaching in technology, either design technology or computing technology. Minor studies: Engineering, food, software design, textiles.
Practical experience: Students will complete the equivalent of 90 days of professional experience in relevant school settings. This may involve placement in schools in locations outside the Newcastle area.
Professional recognition: Graduates will be eligible for registration with the NSW Institute of Teachers.
Career opportunities: Examples include Secondary School teaching of Technology (Yrs 7 to 12) in the NSW Department of Education and Training, Catholic Education and Independent school systems; and in public and private school sectors both nationally and internationally.
