Major studies: Pharmacy.
Practical experience: Students will complete substantial supervised clinical practice in a range of diverse clinical contexts, including, but not limited to, community pharmacy, primary health care clinics, residential aged care facilities, mental health services and acute care hospitals throughout the Hunter, Central Coast, Mid North Cost and University Department of Rural Health sites. Rural placements will be mandatory and occur throughout rural and remote NSW and other locations in Australia. Travel, accommodation and related expenses for work integrated learning/placements is the responsibility of the student.
Honours: All students who successfully complete the requirements for the awarding of the degree will graduate with Honours.
Professional recognition: This four year program has been structured to meet the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) criteria for registration as a pharmacist.
Career opportunities: Examples include community pharmacist, consultant pharmacist, hospital pharmacist, industrial pharmacists, locum.
Additional information: The program requires students to undertake extensive practical learning.
Students will be subject to policies and procedures laid down by the NSW Ministry of Health, including policies around criminal record checking. These requirements may or may not include a WorkCover-approved first aid certificate, a National Police Certificate, a Prohibited Employment Declaration, NSW Health Code of Conduct Agreement as well as fulfilling any required immunisations in order to obtain a NSW Health Certificate of Compliance. Students are expected to comply with these requirements prior to undertaking clinical placements.
All students will be registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
