Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR)
ATARs are now available
The ATAR is a number (not a mark) that indicates a student’s position in relation to their Year 7 cohort, including students who did not complete Year 12. The ATAR allows the comparison of students who have completed different combinations of HSC courses. The ATAR is calculated solely for use by institutions, either on its own or in conjunction with other selection criteria, to rank and select school leavers for admission to tertiary courses.

2009 ACT Year 12 students
The ACT Board of Senior Secondary Studies will issue the ACT Year 12 Certificate and Tertiary Entrance Statement (including ATAR) to ACT students on Wednesday 16 December 2009. Students should collect their certificates from their college on or after this date.
Information about the calculation of the ACT ATAR is available from the ACT Board of Senior Secondary Studies.
2009 IB Diploma Students
IB Diploma candidates are not eligible to receive an Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR). In 2009, an ATAR is only calculated for students sitting the NSW Higher School Certificate and ACT Year 12 Certificate, who satisfy requirements.
You will receive a UAC rank based on your total score if you have been awarded the IB Diploma or Bilingual Diploma.
The process used to determine university selection ranks for International Baccalaureate students in Australia will not change as a result of the recent change from UAI to ATAR. UAC has sent a letter to IB students in NSW and ACT explaining why.
