Who can apply through UAC Undergraduate?
You are able to apply through UAC undergraduate if you are:
- an Australian or New Zealand citizen
- a permanent resident of Australia
- a holder of an Australian permanent resident humanitarian visa.

If you aren't a permanent resident yet you may be able to apply through UAC International.
If you are still unsure read who cannot apply through UAC.
Prospective permanent residents
If you are granted permanent residency after you've applied through UAC International, write to the Senior Operations Officer as soon as possible to explain your change in status and provide a verified copy of your current passport. If you change your status after you receive an offer, you must contact the individual institution.
Deferred applicants
You may need to apply though UAC if you deferred your offer.
UAC International
If you are NOT an Australian or New Zealand citizen or Australian permanent resident you can apply through UAC International with one of the following qualifications in 2010:
- an Australian Year 12
- an International Baccalaureate (IB)
- a New Zealand National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA) Level 3.
If you are not in one of these categories you must apply directly to institutions.
Who CANNOT apply through UAC?
Other international students apply directly to the relevant institutions, not through UAC. Those who apply directly include the following:
- holders of permits for temporary entry into Australia (eg overseas students, permanent residents of New Zealand, diplomats and temporary residents who hold permits for work purposes)
- exchange students
- international students currently enrolled in an English language course or in a course at an Australian tertiary institution (including a tertiary preparation course) or TAFE.
