The UAC newsletter keeps you updated on Undergraduate, International and Postgraduate applications. It lets you know about Equity Scholarships, Educational Access Schemes and school careers resources.

Undergraduate mid-year applications are now open

Apply now for mid-year uni courses

Mid-year undergraduate applications through UAC are open until 11 June. With a mid-year offer you can start studying in semester 2, 2010 – this year, institutions are offering almost 500 courses.

Choosing your courses

With almost 500 undergraduate courses on offer, it might be hard to make your mind up about which to choose. You can list up to nine course preferences on your application and change your preferences as many times as you like before the advertised closing dates. To help make your decision read our Courses FAQs.

Mid-year Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT)

The first mid-year testing session for STAT is on 8 May and registrations are open. If you don't have formal qualifications to support your application, you may be eligible for consideration by sitting STAT. Check entry requirements with the institution.

Providing documents to support your application

Once you've applied you may need to provide us with supporting documents. Each year UAC receives hundreds of documents that can't be processed because they are not verified correctly – read our FAQs for tips on how to provide your documents to us.

Taking up a deferred offer

You may have opted to defer an undergraduate course offer you received for the main uni admissions period in February 2010. If so, even though this place is held for you, you need to check with your institution to see if you need to reapply through UAC or apply direct to the institution to take up your offer.

Medicine courses in 2011

If medicine is on your wish list, you need to register for the UMAT test – visit the ACER website for details.

Mid-year Equity Scholarships

UAC is now processing applications for mid-year Equity Scholarships.

Equity Scholarships assist students from low socio-economic backgrounds with the costs associated with higher education. UAC provides a centralised application service for Equity Scholarships so that you only have to apply once through UAC to be considered for all available Equity Scholarships for which you are eligible.

Four universities are offering mid-year Equity Scholarships: Macquarie University, University of Newcastle, University of New England and University of Technology, Sydney. If you are already a student at, or have applied to, one of these unis you can apply through UAC now for a mid-year Equity Scholarship.

Equity Scholarships applications are now open
Postgraduate Intakes 4 - 6 applications open in May

Courses starting in May to November

Apply now for postgraduate courses starting in May to November using UAC's Apply-By-Web.

Apply by the main closing date

You'll need to apply by the main closing date listed in the postgraduate course search to make sure your application is considered. If you apply after this date, you may get an offer if you are eligible and competitive enough, and if places are still available. Main closing dates are 30 April for courses starting in May (Intake 4) and 28 May for courses starting in June to November (Intakes 5 and 6).

Viewing your offer

Institutions make their postgraduate offers in a number of offer runs. To check if you've been made an offer, log on to Offers with your UAC application number and UAC PIN. If you get an offer with a due date, accept it by that date or your offer will lapse.

Special requirements

Many postgraduate courses have special requirements such as submitting a portfolio. Check the postgraduate course search and institution entries to see how to submit any extra material.

Semester 2 applications

Applications for international semester 2 courses are open until 11 June. There are more than 650 courses available through 16 institutions.

Changing your course preferences

You might change your mind about courses entered in your application. The good news is that you can change your course preferences as many times as you like before Friday 18 June through Online applicant services.

Applying through an agent

You may be using an education agent to help you with your international application. You can nominate an agent for each university you apply to and change your agent through Online applicant services. Your agent will be able to access details of your application through Online agent services.

International Semester 2 applications are now open

Resources for Year 12 students

On our Schoolink website you can find resources for Year 12 students who are thinking about their courses for next year. Applications for 2011 admissions open in August 2010 but students can get an idea of their study options earlier by looking at UAC's 2010 main admissions course search – this lists courses available to Year 12 students last year.
