Check your requirements

To be offered a place in a course you must be eligible to be considered and be selected in competition with other eligible applicants.

Am I eligible?

To be eligible to be considered for a course you must:

  • meet the admission requirements of the institution offering the course. Each institution sets its own admission requirements. Contact your chosen institution/s directly for more information
  • meet the entrance requirements of the course. Some courses have special requirements. Read additional application requirements in each institution's entry and in the course search results.

To be selected for a course you must:

  • compete against other eligible applicants. Being eligible to be considered does not guarantee you a place in the course.

Overseas qualifications

If you're an Australian or New Zealand citizen, or a permanent resident of Australia applying on the basis of overseas secondary or tertiary qualifications, contact the relevant institution/s to discuss your eligibility for admission before you apply through UAC.

Special requirements and policies

The NSW Government has special requirements and policies for students in both health-related and teacher education courses.

Read Special requirements and policies for further information.

English language proficiency

If your qualifications are from countries where English is not the standard language of instruction, you must provide evidence of English language proficiency. Read English language proficiency FAQs for more information about tests and qualifications accepted by the participating institutions as proof of proficiency in English.

Note: All institutions require applicants completing the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) to take the Academic version.

Special requirements

Some courses have special requirements - check the course descriptions available through the course search and read the institution entries for more details.
