Admission requirements

For admission to a postgraduate coursework program you would normally be expected to have a Bachelor degree or three-year diploma from a recognised tertiary institution in an appropriate discipline. You may also need relevant professional work experience.

In exceptional cases an applicant may be admitted as a candidate for a specific course if the applicant submits other evidence of academic and/or professional experience.

Course entry requirements vary for individual courses.

When submitting your application it is important to use the appropriate course code if applying for courses offered by distance education.

Overseas qualifications and English proficiency

If you hold overseas qualifications from countries where English is not the standard language of instruction you must provide evidence of English language proficiency. Refer to the English language proficiency table for information about tests and qualifications accepted by the University as proof of proficiency in English.

Types of programs available

The University of New England offers a wide range of coursework programs at postgraduate level - Masters, Postgraduate Diplomas and Postgraduate Certificates.

A number of these courses will be offered through UAC. Refer to the course search for details.

Advanced standing/academic credit

If you wish to apply for advanced standing for previous studies, download the Advanced Standing Application form from www.une.edu.au/studentcentre.

Deferment may be available on application to UNE.

Fees and charges

Some postgraduate awards at UNE are being offered on both fee-paying and Commonwealth-supported basis, while others are only available as Commonwealth-supported places.

The fees quoted for 2009 are estimates only. Further information about fees can be found at our website at www.une.edu.au/for/current-students/costs/stufees.php.

Eligible domestic fee-paying students enrolled in a non-research course may have access to the Commonwealth Government’s FEE-HELP scheme. Further information can be found at www.backingaustraliasfuture.gov.au.

Direct applications

A number of the University's postgraduate coursework programs are offered through UAC, as listed in the course search.

All other postgraduate Honours, coursework programs and all postgraduate research programs are available through direct application to University. For further information contact the University.

For information about all postgraduate courses offered by the University of New England, visit www.une.edu.au/courses.

It is important that you distinguish between those courses for which you must apply through UAC and those for which you must apply directly to the University of New England.

Current and previous students of UNE do not apply through UAC but apply directly to the University.

Student services and facilities

Accommodation is available in seven Residential Colleges and Wright Village self-catered flats on campus. For further information call 1800 631 641.

Other services include a postgraduate centre, library, computing services, careers development, counselling, casual employment, disability and special needs support, medical, sports and recreation, chaplaincy and student organisations.
