Undergraduate Medicine and Health Sciences Admission Test (UMAT)

The Undergraduate Medicine and Health Sciences Admission Test (UMAT) has been developed by the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER) on behalf of the UMAT Consortium universities.

UMAT is used specifically to assist in the selection of students into medicine and some health science degree programs at undergraduate level. The 2.5 hours test assess general attributes and skills gained through prior experience and learning, such as critical thinking and problem solving, interactions with others, and abstract non-verbal reasoning. It does not measure academic knowledge.

Study in 2009

UMAT is only held once a year. UMAT2008 will be held in various locations across Australia on Wednesday 30 July. Registrations opened April and closed on Friday 6 June. To register for UMAT2008 for admission to courses in 2009 visit ACER's website at www.acer.edu.au or call (03) 9277 5746.
