Qualifications FAQs

  • Where can I find information on the ATAR?

Read Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) for more information.

  • I've lost my ATAR advice notice. Can I get another one?

If you've lost your ATAR Advice Notice UAC can issue you with an ATAR confirmation letter. The fee is $48 (the original ATAR Advice Notice is free). To request an ATAR confirmation letter, print out this form and post to UAC.

  • I am applying on the basis of my Year 12 studies. Do the institutions take anything else into account?

Admission to most tertiary courses is based on your performance in your Year 12 studies. You're ranked on your ATAR. Read Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) for more information.

Other criteria such as a portfolio, interview, audition, questionnaire or test may also be taken into account for certain courses either instead of, or in conjunction, with the ATAR.

Additional selection criteria can be found in the course descriptions available through the course search.

2011 interstate Year 12/NZ NCEA Level 3 students

No general restrictions are placed on applicants who have completed interstate Year 12 qualifications or the NZ NCEA Level 3. Applications from interstate 2011 Year 12 and 2011 NZ NCEA Level 3 students are generally processed in the same way as 2011 NSW HSC applications.

  • Will all institutions consider my work experience/employment?

Some institutions will take employment experience into account for admissions purposes. You'll need to submit a statement of service with your application.

  • I've completed the International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB). How will my IB Diploma results compare with the ATAR?
