Course search help

Keywords

A keywords search allows you to enter the course name, UAC course code, institution name, or a combination. Entries are not case sensitive.
For example: if you want to find a course in accounting at the Australian Catholic University, select 'all' and type in: catholic accounting

Any, all, exact
These options determine how closely your search matches the words you have entered.

Choose 'any' to list as many courses as possible - for example, type in 'mathematics teaching' and select 'any' to find every instance of the word 'mathematics' and every instance of the word 'teaching'.

Choose 'all' to list courses which include all of the keywords you entered - for example, type in 'mathematics teaching' and select 'all' to find every instance of the two words used together.

Choose 'exact' to narrow your matches to the exact combination of words that you enter.

UAI or equivalent cut-off

    These cut-offs can be either:
  • the cut-off that was required for selection in 2008 or
  • the projected cut-off that may be required for selection in 2009.
Projected cut-offs are used by Griffith University, Macquarie University, University of New South Wales, University of Sydney and University of Technology, Sydney.

The cut-offs are supplied as a general guide to help you assess your chances of obtaining a place in a particular course. Actual cut-offs for entry in 2009 will not be known until selections are made during the offer runs.

Offers to applicants who have a UAI below the published cut-off
The UAI cut-off for a course indicates the minimum UAI required for selection into the course for the majority of current Australian Year 12 applicants. However, for a limited number of applicants, institutions have alternative pathways for admission, which may allow applicants to receive an offer to a course even though they have a UAI below the UAI published as the cut-off for the course. The schemes and pathways offered by the institutions differ. Read Admission and selection and check each institution's entry for more information about the schemes and pathways offered.

Numeric values in 0.05 increments can be entered in this field.

Enter one number to obtain a list of courses with a UAI cut-off less than or equal to that number - for example:75.10

Enter two numbers to show all courses within that UAI range. Make sure the first number is less than the second number and separate the numbers with a space - for example: 55.50 65.95

Enter 'other' to list courses which do not show a UAI cut-off.

    Reasons include:
  • N/A selection criteria other than UAI is used; or the course is not offered to current Year 12 applicants
  • U+C combination of UAI and additional selection criteria used
  • n/o no offers made in 2008, no cut-off available
  • nc new course
  • tba to be advised, contact the institution.

The course search results page and the course descriptions show the UAI cut-offs required by international Year 12 applicants for entry into each course in 2008; others show projected cut-offs for 2009. ^top
